The Skunk’s Main Predator

A Baby Skunk (a Kit)

Did you know the skunk’s only real, main predator is the owl and other large birds of prey?

This is because the owl doesn’t have a very good sense of smell. This matters for the skunk because the skunk sprays a foul liquid from its butt as a defense mechanism. This leaves the skunk defenseless against the owl, because the owl doesn’t smell the bad-smelling odor and also the owls do not mind having liquid on them. The liquid is the skunk’s only real defense mechanism, because it walks slowly and doesn’t have very sharp teeth to protect itself.

I believe that, because owls like to hunt skunks, they find them tasty.
