What Do All Animals Have in Common?

Which of these is NOT true?

All animals …

a) Move

b) Breathe

c) Have hair

d) Make babies

If you said “have hair,” you are correct. Animals like fish don’t have hair, but they are still animals.

My favorite animal without hair is the lungfish. It can live out of water for months. (Some books say years.) Learn more about them here:

My favorite animal with hair is a rat, because I have one as a pet and because he will basically eat anything. Rats are what are called “generalists” when it comes to their food. That means they eat lots of different kinds of things.

What all animals have in common is that they move (walk, run, slither, swim or fly), breathe (with lungs or gills) and make babies (by eggs or live birth)!
